I hiked back to the shipwreck (seen in my 'Dawn and a Derelict' photo) again. ... hiking the snow drifts on Lake Superior in the dim twilight was tough going but absolutely beautiful!
When I arrived at the place shortly before the sun rose, this old 15-foot-high shipyard remnant was the first item on my shoot list.. it's sentinel-like stance felt to me like it had defied time and decay in order to guard over the shipwreck 100 feet behind it.
when the sun rose it was obscured by a cloud bank on the horizon and I was initially disappointed.. but then lifted higher igniting some rather spectacular clouds with a firey highlight.
