I took my 4x4 back several miles of rocky trail to my favorite waterfall near dark hoping to get some slow exposure water/ice shots in neutral lighting. When I got there I found ice..but no water.. the stream is very low and the small trickle which falls over the 15-foot drop was buried under what could only be described as an icey phenomenon.
I climbed the ice (which is formed in steps) to get several shots of the beautiful formations.. this first shot displays about a 5-foot tall section of the fall. I had a hell of a time setting up the tripod, and almost slid off the ice wall a few times, but I was very happy with the way the shots turned out.
