I discovered a cellar under an old abandoned chicken coup in the middle of a farm field.. this struck me as very peculiar.. who puts a basement in a small and insignificant out-building?...

So of course I decided to venture into this dark foul-smelling den.

I shuddered as I descended an old wooden 6-foot stair-ladder into a small rectangular cement foundation. The air down there was cold and damp. In the narrow beam of my mag-light I could see my breath. As it was late spring, the floor was covered in a thick layer of wet muck which still had ice under it from winter just past.

The only hole in the cement foundation, an old and very small broken window at the top of the wall, allowed a single narrow stream of sunlight to penetrate what would have been complete darkness.

Oddly enough the narrow room was devoid of all but one object .. an old empty moonshine bottle in the corner. I placed it right where the beam of sunlight hit the floor and it lit up like an incandescent bulb!

so here's what I got... a 'Bottle of Shine' ..found in one of the more peculiar places I've ever been..

This was taken in the spring of 2006 ...it's been redone and moved over from my urbex account so I can make the print available.

A slight crop was the only post-work done to the photo. The lighting is all natural as described in the story above.

Thanks for taking the time! ...and please feel free to have a gander at my mini-gallery devoted to Still Life Conceptual photography. :)
