Artist's Comments

The nature of the freeze on the ever-morphing Lake Superior during winter.

The ice forms along the edges of the open water ... then the swell from the mighty lake breaks it up and throws back on top of the ice pack ... then it freezes again, sometimes leaving these odd vertical beauties refracting the colors of the rising sun.

This one seemed a lot like a shark fin ... so I've given it a new title. :)

Like my photo entitled 'The Prism', this is from the same 'lost' shoot (lost in my hard drive that is)

December 2005 near Silver Islet on the Sibley peninsula.
