Slowing down before speeding up..

hey y'all!

Well.. for ten more days my life has returned to normal.  My daughter Lauren is back home with her mom and the house has become significantly larger with just my ownself kicking around.  I'm single these days and the sofa has become my bed... the TV my sleeping partner.  I'm not lonely, but my life is not as busy and 'complete' as it once was.  I suppose I should enjoy this time of relative peacefulness before my hormones kick into overdrive and the quest for a new lover begins.  At 39 those hormones need a little more time to recover. :D

I go back to work on April 3 at the firebase, and soon enough I will be completely absorbed in my demanding profession for another 6 months. :flame: ...I ran my annual fitness test the other day and still hurt all over.. sigh.. the evils of time.  My summer roommate (who also fights fire) arrives in town  next weekend so I'll be busy enough cleaning up my six-month bachelor mess.

My photography continues to be my passion-hobby and budding business, shared more often than not with my friend Jay.. ~Curmudgeon75 .. whom I met here on dA and has since been my shooting partner on many excursions over ice, through forests, along mountain streams, under cliffs and waterfalls, and most recently into desolate buildings and ramshackle ruins.  We just this morning explored some old abandoned houses and barns.  Nice to have someone like him along to enjoy these hikes and trespassings!

The 2006 Photography Olympics were a great success and judging by the notes and comments I've received, alot of people had a good time with the contest... mission accomplished! ..thats what it was all about and I feel that the judges and I contributed something worthwhile to this online community! :)  If you haven't seen the results, go see them on the main contest page.

Sorry if haven't replied to many comments the past couple of days.. I'm starting to slide in the message center again.. oh well.. you guys know I'll be by soon so I don't let that stuff consume me.. real life has just been a bit more important as spring arrives up here in the 'big freeze'.  No comment ever goes unread or unappreciated though.. I truly am inspired and honored by all your kind support!
:horns:

Be good to yourselves..

Love y'all

Skinner

39 ... the precipice ... i stand upon it with you ...
single ... yep ... yet quiet house ... not with three daughters :lmao: ... finding a lover is easy ... several over the past three "single" years ... no emotional attachment or baggage entering the equation is nice ... but on this precipice i look above and below and find a nagging ... a distant call of connectedness ... perhaps upon the horizon or blowing in the wind...

enjoy the quiet self discovery time ... :smooch: the winds of change will soon enough find the spark & ignite the flames of passion ... :glomp:

great words.. very kind of you to share your thoughts luv! .. I noticed earlier you were my age.. I prefer not to think of it as the 'precipice' though :)

Even if it feels a little blah right now, some down-time can be a good thing. I find I really appreciate it when it's over and I realize that I just started to miss it...

true enough .. things aren't blah though.. just incomplete.. I'm a very emotional lover-type who seems a little starved for intimate attention when I don't have it.. :)

I can understand that. I think you are a genuinely caring person and I hope very much you find someone to share in your life again.

Have cheer dear friend, I have been single for um, 2 years now, really more like 6, but a couple of those I had a lover for a few monts. Anyway, I kinda have used the time to paint, and live in ways and learn things that I probably would have never been able to.

I am thinking though, once my nest is empty this year and I move closer to the city I might finally begin my man quest, with the knowledge that I am pretty happy either way, and have a much better understanding of things in general. Meaning I think I will pick wisely.

At 42, I hear that hormone thing...."ah yes boys can do more than open that pickle jar"

:)
