Ok let's see - we have an image hosted on a profile that is 1 day old and asks you to visit a website with a strange url with a promise of a financial reward on an another website. How do you even imagine that would work? And now, of course, people start crying that their computers got infected with malware. Which is great - every genius who fell for this obvious phishing scam deserved it. I hope your shitty computer burns and you along with it.

Bronies go nuts, and Nintendo Sucks?Equestria Girls
The trailer to "Equestria Girls" (the humanized MLP spinoff film) finally was released today. Aaaannnd everyone's freaking out. Again.
You know, it actually looks pretty decent. Bronies... please understand: I know you're a major unexpected demographic for the show. I know you enjoy seeing shout-out's become canon within the show, and appreciate how the creators do little things here and there for you. But... the show isn't made for you. This is not Cartoon Network and the target demographic isn't 25 year olds in college. You're a nice addition to the target demographic of little girls, but you are not the driving force behind MLP.
I don't want this to sound mean, but it needs to be said. This is where it becomes very important to understand the fine line between being a fan of the show and thinking that because you've invested so much energy into the show that you're entitled to things.
I'm sure the movie won't be as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It honest

Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

Hey Y'all!

I'd like to announce the final top ten photos (out of 65 entries) have been chosen by the four judges in ~darkernights 'Trees Contest'!

It's time for the public to vote, so head on over and cast a vote for your pick.. good luck to the finalists.

On a personal note, I'm back to 100% health now and went on my first photo shoot in 10 days just yesterday morning .. unfortunately a spectacular sunrise turned into nothing as storm clouds rolled over it, but it sure felt good to be out hiking again!

Also I'm getting excited about my daughter coming for a 10-day visit starting next week! She lives with her mom in Sioux Lookout which is 400km away, so when she comes to visit, it's a huge deal for me

Forest fire season is almost upon me ..only another month before I return to work. I have to perform my annual fitness testing in three weeks, so I'm getting a bit nervous about that. This will be my 17th season fighting fire, and as always I look forward to the adventure and comradery.

This new foray into a genre of photography completely different from my nature stuff has.. artistically speaking.. been an absolute breath of fresh air for me. It's become, in fact, far more challenging and rewarding then I ever would have guessed. I started with rural explorations such as old barns and abandoned farmhouse interiors and branched out into trespassing dangerous old industrial derelict buildings and shooting seedy alleyways at night in the worst parts of town...

I couldn't find the perfect shot to enter...I had a specific setting I wanted, and well...wrong time of year to duplicate the one I wanted to enter but was taken before the "shoot date"

Glad to hear you're out and about again, and you must be sitting on the edge of cloud nine waiting for your daughter to arrive.

Unless it dries up a whole lot out here, the fire season will probably come later in the year. Right now they're very concerned about major flooding due to the snowpack sitting up on the mountains and...it's raining in the valley, snowing up past Hope, apparently. *sigh* Spring...now...please lol

I know just how crazy fire season can be; we used to move the MoF camp trailers around until Victoria decided to go with the absolutely lowest bidder for the services, and then when the Chilliwack Depot gets fed up with the non-service they get from said bidder, they call us anyway because we are always far better organized and faster, and they have no problem paying for the service, which really calls into question what the big fuss over the bidding was for in the first place. Government, gotta love it

....reminds me of our local Naval Base. First they were going to close it, then they weren't, then they decided to downsize it, then 9/11 happened, then they decided to think about it some more, so NRS (Naval Relay Station) came to mean Not Really Sure.
